Clever Ways To Banish Or Treat Ingrown Hair

Want to know another downside of waxing or shaving? Ingrown hair. They itch like crazy and can be a real pain the neck. Worse than that the more you scratch, the more you risk them getting infected.

Having ingrown hair is normal so don’t freak out if you see one especially in the arm pit area. These are just curly hairs that lost their way while growing. So instead of breaking out of the skin they’re stuck underneath it.

Shaving with a less than sharp razor or waxing against the grain of natural growth can cause them. All it means it that the hair shaft is cut unevenly making the growing hair to go in random directions.

If you’re waxing, shaving or plucking your armpits, legs and bikini areas you’re more likely to have ingrown hair. This is because hair in those areas is naturally curly and coarse. So they grow in a spiral which does not break the surface of the skin.

Ingrown hair looks a lot like a pimple. It’s small and painful. That’s because the hair is coiled up inside and can’t break through the skin. Some even contain pus. But before you pop the hair free, make sure you washed your hands to avoid further infection.

Some pointers to help you avoid these pesky little things so as to maintain sleek blemish free skin:

Clean the area before and after your preferred procedure for removing hair using your favorite salicylic-acid toner or pad. Exfoliate immediately after every session. This will remove dirt and the dead layer of skins cells making your hair grow free of obstacles.

If you know you tend to develop ingrown anyway, get yourself a topical antibiotic that will work to both prevent infection and cut down any resulting inflammation.

Use a sharp razor always. These are relatively cheap and can be found in almost every supermarket or pharmacy. Rather than irritating your skin, a new razor is clean and cuts the hair evenly. Plus you don’t have to keep gliding it back and forth to do the job.

Need help with your bikini line? Let professionals do it for you. Not only they can see the area better but they can reach areas that you can’t.

Instead of waxing or shaving, why don’t you try using a depilatory cream? By dissolving the hair that’s on top of the skin, it will grow correctly.

Yes, women are the likely victims of the pesky ingrown hair but let’s face it. We want smooth skin and if this is the price to pay, bring it on. Plus there are a lot of ways to remove ingrown hair, if not these steps will help prevent them.
