5. Other causes – There are many causes of dandruff still being debated on. People believe stress, poor scalp hygiene, or not using enough shampoo and conditioner, can cause dandruff. Others swear it can be caused by using a brush or comb used or owned by a person with dandruff.

Dandruff can usually be cured easily, as long as instructions from your dermatologist or doctor are followed well. Creams, shampoos, moisturizers, conditioners and ointments, usually containing the active ingredient Ketoconazole (an antifungal drug), can do the trick.

However, do not self-diagnose. There are rather unfortunate cases when an antidandruff product was used, and ended up aggravating the problem. It is best to consult an expert such as a dermatologist before using any antidandruff products.
